Jesus Youth New Zealand – History

Jesus Youth New Zealand had its humble beginnings in 2006. The movement slowly but steadily grew and spread to different parts of the country. Currently Jesus Youth has active presence in about 10 cities/towns in the country. We present a timeline below to show some of our significant events.

2006

The very first youth gathering of Jesus Youth in New Zealand took place in 2006 in Auckland.

Bishop Patrick Dunn of Auckland became patron Jesus Youth New Zealand

2008

In 2008 Rexband performed in Auckland as part of their World Youth Day tour.

2010

Exult 2010, first youth retreat organised by Jesus Youth New Zealand with 14 participants.

Auckland prayer group ….Early Days

JY Auckland starts the Jericho Rosary March at Mount Eden, Auckland

JY takes root in other parts of the country such as Hamilton and Christchurch.
